CHVFD Receives $39,570 Grant for Ultra High Pressure Firefighting Unit
November 2025

In November 2025, the Chestnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department was awarded a $39,570 grant from the Jefferson Health Care Foundation Fund, a fund of the East Tennessee Foundation, to purchase an Ultra High Pressure firefighting skid unit. The grant funded the full $39,570 cost of the unit, providing our volunteer firefighters with an important new capability for protecting our community.

The new Ultra High Pressure firefighting skid unit, manufactured by K3 Fire, is installed in CHVFD Rapid Response Unit 952. The compact system gives our firefighters a highly mobile firefighting capability that can reach areas where access by a full-size fire engine may be difficult or impossible. The unit allows CHVFD to respond quickly to incidents such as brush and grass fires, vehicle fires, and other emergencies in remote or limited-access locations.

First Call for the New Unit
Rapid Response Unit 952 was quickly put to work, responding to a grass fire in a residential yard. The Ultra High Pressure firefighting system allowed CHVFD members to attack the fire quickly while using a smaller, highly mobile apparatus.

Reaching Areas Traditional Apparatus Cannot
Rapid Response Unit 952 has also proven its value at incidents where access for a full-size fire engine is difficult or impossible. During this boat and fuel fire near the water, CHVFD firefighters were able to bring firefighting capability directly to the scene. The Ultra High Pressure unit gives our members another important tool for protecting lives and property in remote and limited-access areas.

Thank You to Our Community Partners
The members of the Chestnut Hill Volunteer Fire Department gratefully acknowledge the Jefferson Health Care Foundation Fund, a fund of the East Tennessee Foundation, for the $39,570 grant that made the purchase of this Ultra High Pressure firefighting unit possible.
We also extend our appreciation to K3 Fire and Matt Carpenter of K3 Fire for their assistance with the unit and for helping CHVFD add this valuable firefighting capability to our department.
